Is It Fucking PE?

Why This Fucking Site Exists

Your vet got bought. Your dentist got bought. The place that fixes your car, the company that makes your dog's food, the urgent care clinic, the local newspaper, the funeral home — bought, bought, bought. Private equity has spent two decades quietly rolling up the businesses you deal with every day, and mostly nobody tells you.

Sometimes that's fine. Sometimes it means prices go up, staff get cut, quality slides, and the whole thing gets sold again in five years carrying a pile of debt it didn't ask for. Either way, you deserve to know who actually owns the places you give your money to.

So: type in a company, get a straight answer. If we've looked it up before, you get it instantly. If not, we do the digging and email you when it's done. That's the whole site.

How we figure it out

We run current-web research on ownership structure — who holds the company, whether a private equity firm is in the chain (directly or via a holding company), when the acquisition happened. Then we tell you in plain English, with a confidence level, and we date-stamp it because ownership changes.

It's built from public information. It can be wrong or out of date. If a result looks stale, hit the re-check button. If it matters — for a job, an investment, a lawsuit — verify it yourself.

Who we're rooting for

For the record: when a company turns out to be family-owned, employee-owned, a co-op, or just stubbornly independent, we celebrate. Genuinely. No irony. Those results are the good days around here.
